Questions are the keys that unlock doors to knowledge, and answers are the treasures found within.
General Information
Are you currently accepting new patients?
Yes! Give our office a call or fill out the online form to schedule.
Where do you see patients?
We see patients virtually across the state of Florida through our secure online platform. We also have in-person appointments upon request in Orlando.
What is the difference between psychiatry and psychology?
Psychiatry is a specialty of medicine that typically focuses on treating mental health conditions using medications or interventional techniques. Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior, often employing therapy as a treatment method.
Do any of your clinicians speak Spanish?
Yes! We have two board-certified psychiatrists – Dr. Monica Arias and Dr. Ana Eusebio – as well as bilingual therapists, Melisa Budhna and Dr. Jennifer Prada-Moreno, who are fluent in both Spanish and English and are available to conduct appointments in Spanish upon request.
Hours and Availability
What are your hours?
Our phone lines are open Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. In case of emergency, or after-hours, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. Appointment slot availability varies based on provider and service requested.
How often do I need to be seen by a psychiatrist?
Depending on your symptoms and needs, we typically schedule your follow up appointments every 2-6 weeks as we optimize your medications. Once you are feeling better and no changes need to be made, we typically schedule you for a follow up visit every 3 months to ensure no adjustments need to be made to your medications. If you are participating in therapy, most sessions are conducted weekly or biweekly. Although this is a general guideline, we will schedule follow up appointments based on your needs.
How long will my appointment be?
The initial psychiatric intake appointment is 60 minutes and follow up appointments are 20-30 minutes. Therapy appointments vary from 30-60 minutes.
Can I reach you outside of my appointment?
Absolutely! You may call, text, or email our clinic. We value promptness and will respond during business hours. Please allow us 24 hours for medication refills.
How do I transfer my script to a different pharmacy?
For non-controlled medications, please contact your preferred pharmacy, and their pharmacy team can assist with transferring your prescription from your previous pharmacy. If you are paying out of pocket and using a GoodRx coupon, you may visit the GoodRx website and, after entering your medication, initiate an online transfer to the preferred (lowest-priced) pharmacy.
Fees and Insurance
Are your services covered by my insurance?
At this time, we take Cigna, Aetna, United Healthcare, United Healthcare Student Resources, Oscar, Optum, AvMed, Evolutions, ComPsych, Florida Blue, Blue Cross Blue Shield, New Directions, Curative, and most UMR plans. We are also in network with the VA Community Care Network Plan. Network status varies for each clinician. We do not take Medicare or Medicaid plans.
What are your fees if I don't have insurance?
Our comprehensive psychiatric evaluation costs $350 and follow up appointments are $200. Therapy appointments are $140 for a 60-minute session. We will provide a superbill if requested so you may submit it to your insurance company for a full or partial reimbursement if we do not take your insurance plan.
How much do other services costs?
For requested phone calls greater than 5 minutes outside of your appointments, we charge a prorated $300 an hour fee based on time. If you need to fill out a form or requesting a letter, please schedule an appointment so we can go over your needs. Otherwise, the cost is $50 per page for a letter and $10 per page for forms.
Appointments and Cancellations
What should I expect during my first psychiatric evaluation?
During the initial evaluation, we will gather a comprehensive psychiatric, psychosocial, and medical history. We also discuss your treatment goals, and together, formulate an appropriate treatment plan.
What is your cancellation policy?
There is no charge if you cancel within 48 business hours of your appointment. We book one patient per appointment slot and reserve this time for you. If there is a no-show or a cancellation within 48 hours, we charge a fee of $150 for a new psychiatric evaluation, $75 for a psychiatric follow up, and $100 for a therapy appointment. We will obtain an active credit card at intake to keep on file that will be utilized for appointment fees, missed appointment fees, phone calls, and letters/forms.
Can I fill my paperwork out in the office prior to my appointment?
We are a paperless office and all consents and intake forms are completed via the portal. Our staff will provide assistance to guide you through filling out all the necessary forms.
Do you fill out FMLA and disability paperwork?
We follow professional guidelines that require patients to establish care before we can complete documentation for FMLA or other employment-related purposes. This ensures that our assessments and recommendations are accurate and clinically appropriate. In most cases, patients must be in treatment for at least three months and have completed 3 to 5 visits with their treating provider before becoming eligible to request FMLA paperwork. Mental health leave may be approved for up to 8 weeks, with periodic follow-up visits to review progress and provide updated documentation as needed. Our practice does not complete paperwork for short-term disability, long-term disability, or court-related matters.
Treatment and Emergencies
How long does treatment take?
Treatment time varies based on the condition treated and treatment goals.
What do I do in case of an emergency?
If you have an emergency (allergic/severe reaction of medication, suicidal thoughts with plan to act, suicide attempt) you must call 911 or go to your local Emergency Department. This is a requirement for treatment as we are not available at all times and emergencies require immediate, in-person attention. Your provider will not always be available to immediately answer calls. We do not have hospital admitting privileges, a dedicated support line, or staff answering calls on weekends/holidays.
