Dr. Enrique Vargas, MD
Psychiatrist
Dr. Vargas is a board-certified adult psychiatrist with more than a decade of experience caring for adults with a wide range of mental health conditions. He treats depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma-related conditions, insomnia, and many other psychiatric concerns. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Vargas strives to create a welcoming, respectful environment where patients feel comfortable discussing even the most difficult parts of their lives.
Dr. Vargas has practiced psychiatry in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatry, outpatient clinics, emergency psychiatry, consultation-liaison services, neuromodulation therapies, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. He completed his psychiatry residency at New York Medical College, followed by one year of fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai before entering full-time clinical practice. In addition to caring for patients, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, where he teaches and supervises psychiatry residents, physicians from other specialties, and medical students.
Dr. Vargas believes that good psychiatric care starts with listening. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, he takes the time to understand each patient’s experiences, concerns, and goals before developing a treatment plan. His approach combines evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy principles, including motivational, existential, and psychodynamic techniques, when appropriate. He views treatment as a collaborative process and encourages patients to ask questions and take an active role in decisions about their care.
Patients can expect appointments that are thoughtful, thorough, and focused on finding practical solutions that fit their lives. Whether someone is seeking help for a new concern or managing a long-standing condition, Dr. Vargas works to build a treatment plan that is individualized, realistic, and dynamic as needs change over time. His goal is to help patients feel better, function better, and regain a greater sense of balance and well-being.
